Fixing Teeth... Permanently.
n2-Anpan OMP!!
Today's the day! (Well, almost - I'm a little ahead of myself at this hour Hawaii time... but I have a feeling I'll be rushing out the door tomorrow morning, so I'm playing it safe by posting now.)

I'll be starting the first stage of my oral implant! It's been held off for a little too long, as I had to wait for my insurance to refresh. I don't care to know just how many procedures I've undergone over the past year and a half. I'm just glad that it's finally coming to an end. Or so I hope?

So today's procedure is to drill a post into my jaw to fit the crown. It's basically the more permanent version of a "bridge", without any further damage to my surrounding teeth. I'll be put under... despite this procedure being a little more delicate than the extraction, I was so traumatized by the former, I opted for anesthesia for the later.

In preparation, I have a couple trays of jello ready in the fridge, a couple bottles of apple and cranberry juice, cans of soup, yogurt, instant miso, milk, and soft fruit for puree... as I probably won't be able to chew anything for the next two weeks. *sigh* I had my fill of yummy food today - a sammich from Aloha Salads for lunch and Thai Lettuce Wraps from Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Once the clock strikes midnight for me, I can't have any more liquids or food - which includes brushing of teeth or chewing of gum. .___.;

I hope all goes well and I won't have any further complications. My teeth and jaw really need a break! ^^;

Good luck, good luck! It's almost over! *internet hugs*

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Much thankees!

if that fixes it, wow and yay!

no kidding! Dental work is crazy expensive without insurance. Thankfully I have dual coverage until next year when KS's replenishes.

Good luck! Hope it goes well. ^_^

Good luck! I have to undergo some dental work soon, so I can totally empathize.

oh! I wanted to let you know that the comic arrived! It looks great!

Oh good, I was wondering if it got there ok ;)

good luck at the dentists! (>_<)/ anesthesia is your friend~
lol, waiting for my insurance to replenish here too before I finish my dental work (^^;)

thankees! I hope your dental work is almost over as well! I have a couple more to go... But I'm crossing my fingers that I don't have any other major work to do!

Good luck and hope you have a speedy recovery!!

You probably know this trick already, but if you need to cool down the swelling, there's nothing better than a package of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel. It's way better than the standard freezer pack because it can conform to the shape of your face while still providing freezy goodness! (and it could be tasty later too. :3)

thanks for the tip! Sadly, I just opened my bag of peas the other day! TwT! I have a few ice packs ok hand to tide me over~ ^^

May the procedure(s) occur swiftly and painlessly!

Other food ideas: rice porridge (cook with chicken broth for extra flavor) with soft poached egg (or cook the egg into the porridge like egg drop soup), mashed spuds, mashed up canned sardines (bones and all - great for calcium), custard or flan, choco mousse.

oh...! Do you have recipes? How do you prepare the sardines? Just eat straight out of the can? I know my mom usually cooks with sugar shoyu sauce. :) today is all chicken broth, beef broth, apple juice, jello and water. I'm looking forward to mushy solids tomorrow!

Recipes for what in particular?

Chuck a sardine in a bowl, add some of the sauce if you want (I like the ones packed in tomato sauce), and mash up with a spoon. Looks gross but it's tasty protein when you're getting sick of eggs! The bones are brittle but mush up easily enough, or you can pick them out of each filet if you rather not eat them.
